What is NLP?

‘We do not see things as they are, but rather as we are’ – Anais Nin

Context

Results in the 21st century are determined by only two factors. Communication between people and communication within people. NLP is a methodology of how you transform both your external and internal communication so that you produce the results you desire.

Neuro Linguistic Programming is a model of how external information is interpreted internally in an empowering way, in order to produce the most outstanding results in life. It is about learning, adapting and transforming – about the human ability to grow, expand and adapt positive, new and successful behaviour.

What is NLP?

NLP is the abbreviation and the common term for Neuro Linguistic Programming.

Neuro focuses on the relationship between the mind and the body.
Linguistics describes the communication within and between individuals.
Programming refers to how the relationship between Neurology and Linguistics results in certain actions based on the programs we run in our bodies

NLP describes how external information is processed internally resulting in a certain behaviour. It is a goal-oriented street-wise psychology created to generate fast, lasting and positive changes.

NLP suggests that individual habits and behaviours can be changed by changing the language with which individuals communicate with themselves and others. It can be effectively used to change, adopt or eliminate behaviors in order to produce results in a corporate, individual or relationship setting. The methodology provides an ability to choose mental, emotional and physical states of empowerment, control and positive persuasion at any time.

NLP and You

Communication

NLP is the greatest breakthrough in human communication since the 1960s. As a cutting edge technology, it has broken down simple techniques used by master communicators and made them available to the public. NLP is being used by managers to improve their communication with employees and by salespeople to instantly create rapport with clients and subsequently increase sales.

Modelling

‘For things to change, we must change’- Henry David Thoreau

Behaviour is based on emotional states and mental strategies. NLP has decoded the emotional states and mental strategies that create successful behaviour and demystified the secret advantage that was reserved only for high net worth individuals, sporting legends and master communicators throughout history. Individuals can therefore reproduce the behaviour of successful businessmen and women, investors, educators, and legends and generate similar results for themselves.

‘Most everything I have done, I have copied from someone else’ – Sam Walton, Founder of Walmart

As such, 'underachievers' can model ‘overachievers’, and 'overachievers' can model 'superachievers' at a workplace and greatly improve their performance and subsequently their income, esteem and fulfillment. In essence NLP is the code-breaker which provides you with an instant command of advanced communication with yourself and others. This command is the key to success in the 21st century.

‘Microsoft’s dominant position arose from an operating system closely modelled on a digital research product and the graphical user interface invented at Xerox’ – Martin Fridson, How To Be a Billionaire

NLP at Work

Coaching is an important aspect in recent global economic trends. Through outsourcing, technological change and corporate restructuring pressure on companies and its employees is rising. These changes need to be handled pro-actively if companies are to remain attractive work places. Studies show that there is a big pay-off for managers who employ various coaches in order to maintain a good relationship with employees. NLP is very important in a coach’s repertoire as it improves communication between managers and employees. Furthermore it is efficient in helping individuals cope with change and it increases productivity.

‘Learning the game of power requires a certain way of looking at the world, a shifting of perspective’ – Robert Greene

The NLP mind-set is this ground-breaking shift of perspectives, the communication key to success in the 21st Century.
